I am currently focusing on offering adult Autism assessments. I’ve taken a step back from offering therapy support in order to have more space for assessments and my role as CEO of Empowered Fulfillment Therapy.

Why I do this work:

I understand how you may feel! I’ve been confused, lost, hurt & desperate for relief, too. I grew up as a queer neurodivergent kid in an incredibly conservative town in the South, where I experienced rejection, judgement, and cruelty around my identity. My family life was chaotic and I coped with being a nurturer, caretaker, and tiny “therapist” for my family members. These experiences shaped my curiosity about other people’s struggles, their experiences with sexuality, and how I can be a force for good in someone’s life who needs it.

As a late-diagnosed neurodivergent human (AuDHD), I understand the overwhelm, confusion, exhaustion and stress that can come with being neurodivergent in a neurotypical-centered society. When I began to understand my neurodivergence, it opened up so much more clarity about who I am and what I need. I offer adult autism assessments to support folks in better understanding themselves and their needs.

I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a specialization in sexuality studies & a minor in psychology. I completely geeked out when I began studying sexuality. I found it fascinating and compelling to explore the complexities of human sexuality. When I learned about sex therapy, it felt like the perfect merging of my passion and my nurturing nature. I completed my Master’s degree in Marriage, Couples & Family Therapy with a Sex Therapy specialization at Lewis & Clark College here in Portland. I’ve focused on studying sex and relationships for over 11 years. My own journey with late-diagnosis led to a professional passion for neurodivergence & I received training to offer affirming adult autism assessments in 2023.

I am currently an adjunct professor at Lewis & Clark College, where I teach about sex therapy. I also supervise Master’s level interns who specialize in sex therapy and neurodivergence.

How I do this work:

You’ll find that I’m compassionate, gentle yet willing to challenge you, soft-spoken, curious, and a fierce advocate for you. I’ll bring in my humanness too. I’ll share bits of my experience with you when it could be validating or relieving to know you’re not alone. I’ll be silly and laugh with you. We can chat about your interests and passions, in addition to your feelings and challenges.

I am a relational and systemic oriented therapist, which means I will bring in awareness and curiosity about how you’re impacted by relationships and larger systems. If you’re into the therapy lingo, I’m primarily rooted in Narrative and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

I have created the autism assessment process to be as inclusive and affirming as possible. I integrate understanding of gender socialization and expression, identities and culture into the assessment. I care deeply about your feelings and needs & will make space for feedback. I do my best to communicate what to expect clearly so that you always feel informed and grounded in this process. I want to offer a comprehensive assessment and I also want to build a relationship together in which you feel comfortable and cared for. You deserve that and it’s also the most powerful tool for being able to open up about your experiences. I support self-diagnosis and do not want to serve as a gate-keeper to Autistic identity. Rather, I want to offer assessment as a tool for self-understanding, clarity and affirmation to those who need it.

I’m informed and affirming around queerness, gender expansiveness, kink/BDSM, ethical non-monogamy, asexuality, and disability. I’m anti-racist and actively work to acknowledge the ways my own privilege and white supremacy show up in therapy.

If you’re curious about me personally: I’m a mom to two tiny humans and three furry babies. I’m partnered with a wonderfully nerdy and neurodivergent person. I love cozy gaming, reality TV, true crime, the Perfect Person podcast and eating allll the delicious vegan food in Portland.

My Role at Empowered Fulfillment Therapy

I am the founder and owner of Empowered Fulfillment Therapy. I began EFT as a solo private practice in 2021 and welcomed our first clinician to the team in 2022. I started this practice with the hope of providing affirming, supportive and quality therapy services to clients who may be misunderstood or unseen in other spaces. I want to offer a place where queer, trans, ethically non-monogamous, neurodivergent, kinky, POC, creative, quirky, or “weird” folks can have an affirming experience in therapy. I also want to support the community in getting support around sexual concerns, which are so often experienced in silence and isolation.

In addition to my passion for supporting our clients, I am fueled by my desire to create a workplace that truly supports our team. Too often, clinicians are over-worked and underpaid within the mental health system. I want therapists to be able to do the work they love, provide quality therapy to their clients and feel nourished in their life. In addition to seeing my own clients and offering adult autism assessments, I am the CEO the practice. As CEO, I steward the ship. I support our clinicians via mentorship, do the marketing and finances, collaborate with our leadership team, work on the growth of the business, and continually work towards fulfilling our mission.

I feel so thankful to our incredible team of caring and dedicated clinicians, our amazing admin, and our wonderful clients who trust us to support them with their well-being.
