My Assessment Process & Approach
My assessment process is made up of reviewing psychological tests, extensive interviews with you, and information provided by those who are close to you.
I aim to approach this process in a neurodivergent-affirming (non-pathologizing), liberatory, gender-inclusive. and socially just way. We hope to provide this assessment to help you better understand yourself and to feel empowered in your experience & not to pathologize your way of being and experiencing the world.

The assessment process is about 5 weeks, depending on scheduling.
Week 1: We’ll go over your mental health background, family history and current relationships.
Week 2: We’ll review your responses to the questionnaires & discuss symptoms you may experience associated with being Autistic.
Week 3: We’ll have a thorough conversation about your experiences with socialization & community, sense of self, skills & interests, academia & workplaces, and sensory processing.
Week 4: We’ll continue our conversation about your experiences with socialization & community, sense of self, skills & interests, academia & workplaces, and sensory processing.
Between week 4 & week 5, your provider will write a thorough report with their diagnostic impression and send it to you to review.
Week 5: We’ll discuss your provider’s conclusion and perspectives, your thoughts & reflections from this process, and potential next steps for support or accommodations.

This includes the 5 hour long meetings, review of questionnaires/psychological tests, writing a formal diagnosis letter, and providing a letter for accommodations if needed.

I do not accept insurance and am considered out of pocket. I’m also unable to provider Superbills for assessments.

No, your assessment results will be privately held in our internal system and will not be accessible to outside sources without your written consent (Release of Information) or via court subpoena - in that case, we generally would only give a summary of care. We will always do our best to protect your confidentiality within the limits of the law.
If maintaining privacy around your assessment is important to you, we recommend being mindful about what you share with medical providers and insurance carriers. You always have the right to ask other providers not to include certain information in your medical chart if that feels safer for you.

I also provide ADHD assessment in addition to an autism assessment! If you’d like to be assessed for both (AuDHD), we would have 6 meetings and the sliding scale rates would shift to:
$1,800-$2,200I am only able to offer standalone ADHD assessments on a case-by-case basis. Please reach out if you have questions about this.

This means that I do not pathologize neurodivergent people, identities, and experiences. I view each person’s unique brain, way of being, and way of experiencing the world as valid and worthy of being understood & valued. I do not believe there is anything “wrong” with those who are Autistic. As such, my goal is to help Autistic folks feel empowered in understanding themselves and their needs.
I base my assessment process on education provided by Autistic folks. I do not align with ABA. Your assessment is also offered by a neurodivergent provider.

An LMFT is a licensed clinician with a Master’s degree. An LMFT is able to (with adequate training) diagnose Autism; however, documentation for formal accommodations or disability services may require a diagnosis from a Psychologist.
While an LMFT can provide Autistic assessment if they have the training & experience, some schools or workplaces may require documentation from a Psychologist for accommodations (i.e. accommodating related to a learning disability). If you’re seeking out this assessment for accommodations specifically, please check with your school or workplace first to determine if documentation from an LMFT is adequate.
Assessment by LMFTs may be best suited for folks who want a formal diagnosis for self-understanding and a clearer path towards well-being.
